71 contestants took part to the Natural Photography Contest "Alma Murgiana" organized for the first time this year by the Alta Murgia National Park. The deadline for photographers to submit their applications was due on 30 November 2009. The contest themes were "Landscapes of the Alta Murgia National Park" and "Nature sculptures in the Alta Murgia Park".Contestants were allowed to send in their works of art relating to both themes and indicate their first choice. The majority of them indicated "Landscapes of the Alta Park Murgia National Park" theme as their first choice. However, the three quarters of the contestants have presented photographs for both themes given. The snapshots had to be forwarded both in digital format via e-mail and in a printed copy via recorded mail. The digital copies have been stored in the National Park digital archives with a 100% cut down on digital CDs or DVDs and the printed materials have been made available for upcoming exhibitions. The jury is evaluating contestants' applications and will soon declare the best artists, who caught the core of the Murgian landscape on their cameras, as the winners. The Board of the Alta Murgia National Park is very pleased of the great interest that photographers have shown and has announced a Natural Photography Contest on "Biodiversity" for next year.
